Increase in Ombudsman Upheld Cases attributed to failing social care system

 

The often-heard criticism of social care from both providers and users is that it is a failing system and this is reflected in the Ombudsman annual review of social care complaints.
Fault by LAs was found in 72% of complaints last year [up from 69% the previous year].

The Ombudsman service found that mistakes were increasingly caused by measures employed by councils and care providers to mitigate their financial pressures.
